A bold and tactile wraparound cover created for Mort the Monster, a children’s book about Betty, a fearless girl on a quest to catch a mysterious house-dwelling creature. To spark curiosity and visual interest, I constructed Mort using coloured glitter cardboard, adding texture and dimension. This was layered with hand-drawn illustrations and a rough sans-serif typeface to echo the playful tone. The cover teases Mort’s identity with a glimpse of his tail, revealed more fully on the back cover. A vibrant blue and yellow palette enhances Mort’s multicoloured scales, making the design eye-catching, fun and irresistible to young readers. Also included below is the second concept offered, which was a full illustrative artwork. The tail concept was chosen mainly for the bright, tactile quality that the artwork lends to the cover.
